RIVA M/Y RACE50: WHEN DREAMS COME TRUE

Majestic and elegant, designed to offer an experience of top-level sailing without relinquishing comfort, elegance, great attention to details and the workmanship of the shipbuilding art.

A masterpiece of nautical engineering, Made in Italy class and aesthetics at their maximum levels. Modernity and loyalty to high craftsmanship traditions and attention to details. These are the distinctive features of every Riva creation, the shipyard founded in Sarnico (BG), with a 177-year-long history. A worldwide nautical legend. Conceived by the Superyachts Division, the new 50-metre motorboat, in steel with aluminium superstructure and a clean and elegant profile with decisive and strong lines, is the continuation of Carlo Riva’s dream – a key player in the nautical world in the 1960s and ‘70s, who created the famous steel motor yacht in the Caravelle and Atlantic series – to create avantgarde models with high aesthetic standards, style and innovation. The yacht is the joint venture between Officina Italiana Design, the design studio founded by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta and which exclusively designs all the Riva range, and the engineering team that deals with creating the new Riva super yachts with the Strategic Product Committee of the Ferretti Group, a world leader in the design, study, construction and sales of recreational boats, with a unique portfolio of prestigious and exclusive brands: Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN, Custon Line and, of course, Riva. The model in this special collection is called Race and the name highlights its determined spirit and desire to speed over the sea. Launched at the shipyard in Ancona and built for Piero Ferrari, son of Enzo, aka Drake, founder of the team from Maranello. Ferrari, known for his great passion for planes and boats, is Vice President of the Ferretti Group and second main shareholder with 13.2% after Chinaman Weichai, who has owned the rest of the Group’s capital since 2012 – as well as member of the Strategic Committee linked to the Ferretti Group product.

So far, no details have been released nor has any information on the internal design, which will certainly have unmistakable style to meet the elegant taste and demanding expectations of the Italian shipowner. No details are yet known about the technical profile either apart from the measurements: 50 metres long with a 9-metre beam. As for the engine, it is assumed that, seeing who the owner is, it could be bigger than those on the 50-metre Iron Man, which has two MTU 8V 4000 M63 engines powering it to a maximum speed of 15 knots and a cruise speed of 14 knots.

«Riva 50 metre is a momentous leap forward for Riva and shipbuilding in general», says lawyer Alberto Galassi, CEO of Ferretti Group. «It causes the hearts of all those who watch it sail to skip a beat, an incomparable wonder multiplied by its emotional greatness. It also marks a splendid milestone for the Riva Superyachts Division, which has built the largest Riva of all, respecting and enhancing the brand’s aesthetic value and unique style. With meticulous design details that take your breath away, this 50-metre yacht is a treasure chest of beauty in which a legendary nautical story and ultra-contemporary vision shine forth. Manufacturing expertise that can be admired in a work of this value is also the best manifesto of unbeatable Made in Italy supremacy».
